Get your journal on in a composition book!

I have been so consumed working in a composition book as my new art journal! Fear is such a terrible thing, just by removing the fear of "messing up my good journal" I was able to cut loose in a cheap composition book which are not only fun to decorate but also powerful in leading me to be open, honest and real. I have learned and stretched my creativity by just completely letting go, playing and doodling. I started drawing these funny and whimsical faces and I love them! I have been creating and playing with these faces in my journal and now I am expanding to canvas. My comp book is my journal, sketchbook, diary, scrapbook all rolled into one and really reflects me and my style. I have had so much fun I have created covers for my next few books that are waiting to be filled. There is definitely going to be a whole lot of journaling going on at this camp! There is also a comp journal group on yahoo you can check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CompositionArtJournals and a flickr group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/composition_book_art_journals/ Go for it, get your journal on!

Art Journal Challenges

I've learned the best way to stay motivated and inspired is to just KEEP DOING ART! I have joined the Art Journal challenge over at Emily's blog http://embers.typepad.com/e/art_journal_love/index.html and it had me up and making a creative mess all night. I loved getting back to the FUN of making art journal pages with my photos.

Back To Active Duty

It is so nice to be back making art and on line to connect with fellow artist. I of course had to sign up for art boot camp over at the Journal Revolution Art Army! http://flickr.com/groups/artarmy/ I worked on some canvas pieces inspired by the writing on the wall section in the book. Here is a quick peek at some of the magic I created. I can't wait to share more of what I have been up to and creating with you. Ciao for now I've got to go take more pictures.

I've got the Midas touch

Where would I be without challenges? This is just a quick post for the current challenge at http://www.autumnleaves.com/colorBlog/ that one of my favorite artist Emily choose for this weeks challenge going metallic. This was fun to create I just dry brushed black and gold paint in the background. Used some yummy red paint with a stencil and added buttons and brads for more bling! Just a little of the Midas touch :)

Art to the last drop

I love this page I was able to create due to my printer running out of ink while printing a sheet of photos. I love how the image matches the clip art (ala Anahata) so well. She really has some cool books/images to play with so check her out at www.anahataart.com
This has been a BUSY weekend for me working on fun projects and getting to play with some new materials from the fabulous SCRAPS in SF. I must plan another trip soon I had so much fun buying cool art supplies for pennies.
